🤔 I'd really like to read about more studies on this.. cause I worry, maybe it's more Pavlovian than actual comprehension. Edit: woooow. This baby is 9 years old now. Didn't see how old this was until I commented. Wonder how they're doing

My son did that on his own at about that age and would play with word cards like "train" that he had seen on TV and push them around on the floor and hug his Barney card. It looked very impressive at the time., but, he was recognizing them as a whole picture symbol much like you would discriminate a picture of an apple from an orange. Change one letter and he had no idea what it was. This system comes crashing down when they get older unless you teach phonics because you can't memorize the dictionary. Better to focus on teaching lower case letter sounds, digraphs, and blending sounds together and teach about looking at letters in words from left to right. Listen to rhyming music. Without phonics there is no real reading.

A doctor lady from your institute came to Antigua Guatemala where I was volunteering with the kids over 25 years ago. She taught the staff and me the patening program. She taught me all she knew about it and your institute. I thank her for all that she taught me as I am now going to help others with what you all do.Thank you.

My ex-wife took your course. We used it on our children. Well, I used it on the first two. Our third never got the chance due to the divorce. And without the program, there is a marked difference between them. That started 30 years ago, and the evidence of what the program can do is remarkable. I believe it could really benefit families with autistic children.

Just because a baby is born with down syndrome does not mean that child will not be able to learn and live a normal life. It's all up to the child parents. Just like any other child. I have seen children same age as this intelligent child and don't know their own name or last name.

Well, aren't we smart, so many ways to go, so many options, and in the end we think we got it right, but it is only because we fool ourselves to believe in our possibilities. What we see here is a mother and a child interacting, it works because both are willing to cooperate and react with one another - the child is not reacting to the book, and it is not reading it is the mother, experiments have shown this extensively, it only works with the mother's interaction. If you love your child or children, get them to interact with you, games that make fun, sing songs and tell little funny stories, get the child in a happy chatty mood ask questions and react with approval when you receive an answer, make corrections as part of the game, don't insist it's game not work, show the child that you love to play and be together touch and hug the child comfort and cuddle and be happy and chatty if you do this whenever you are together with the child you will get the child you want the child you love.
